History
Orange County, located in Southern California, has a rich history that dates back hundreds of years. Originally inhabited by Native American tribes such as the Tongva, Acjachemen, and Juaneño, the area saw significant changes with the arrival of Spanish explorers in the 18th century. The establishment of missions, particularly the Mission San Juan Capistrano in 1776, marked the beginning of European influence.
In the 19th century, after Mexico gained independence from Spain, the area became part of Mexico. This changed again with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1848, making California a part of the United States. The county was officially established in 1889, separating from Los Angeles County.
The 20th century brought rapid development and growth, particularly after World War II, transforming Orange County into a suburban and urban hub. The establishment of Disneyland in 1955 further cemented its place as a major tourist destination.
